Airbrush Compressors
Which airbrush compressor is best for you?
- The Silver Jet is best for hobby applications, airbrush makeup, and personal use airbrush tanning.
- The Sprint Jet is the best value in a single piston design. The Smart Jet adds auto-shutoff and the Smart Jet Pro adds auto shut-off in a case design with a pressure regulator rather than a bleeder valve.
- The Power Jet Lite is the best value in a dual piston design. The Power Jet Pro is a dual piston design with dual pressure regulators, dual airbrush hookups and quick connect fittings. The Power Jet has only one hook-up but has a larger air storage tank than the Power Jet Pro. The Power Jet or the Power Jet Pro are recommended to drive larger airbrushes such as the G6 spray gun/airbrush.
Airbrush compressors are NOT designed to drive air tools. They are designed to be portable, extraordinarily quiet (at least Iwata compressors are quiet) and to provide a steady source of low pressure air that airbrushes require. The CFM rating is usually less than 1 CFM, so only specially designed guns such as the Iwata G6 or Iwata RG3 are supported. For these guns, you will need to purchase at least the Power Jet Lite. All Iwata compressors are oilless design, so they are low maintenance and can be used in beauty applications.
